Green Oak – A Natural Rarity and Legend
In Bančići, nine kilometers southwest of Ljubinje, stands the Green Oak – an oak tree that retains its green leaves throughout the winter, creating a captivating sight. According to local legend, Saint Sava, while traveling through these lands, rested in its shade and blessed the tree to remain forever green, a blessing that still witnesses its longevity and unusual strength. This symbolic natural monument, about 10 meters tall, which cannot be reproduced, attracts visitors who wish to feel a deep connection with both the past and nature.
Stećci – Witnesses of the Past

Ljubinje is rich in stećci, medieval monuments found in necropolises scattered across the municipality. These monuments date back to the 14th and 15th centuries, many adorned with various motifs that testify to the life and beliefs of our ancestors. Notable sites are in Dubočica, Ubosko, Vlahovići, and Premilovo Polje, making the cultural heritage of this region an indispensable part of its tourist offering.

Religious Tourism – Spiritual Center of Ljubinje

Ljubinje has a deep church tradition, and numerous religious sites make it an important destination for religious tourism. The Church of the Nativity of the Most Holy Mother of God is one of the key monuments, built in 1869, but with remnants of previous churches dating back to the Roman Empire. This church, declared a national monument of Bosnia and Herzegovina, is located at the center of an ancient stećci necropolis, and nearby are archaeological findings from the Roman period, including graves and objects dating from the 4th to the 14th centuries.
